Rachel Jahja, nèe Baker (B.I Arch, M. Design, PhD) is an Australian interior architect, designer, researcher, lecturer and design theorist that is dedicated to uncovering the relationship between ontological being and spatial design practice/processes.
As course convener, lecturer and teacher for numerous Design Studio courses, Rachel has been developing pedagogical strategies involving an iterative design process that empower students’ independent and autonomous design thinking directly related to space making. Similarly, the intention of these approaches is to bring forth a deeper humanised understanding of decisions made in spatial design processes and the potential experiential ramifications that these decisions have on inhabitants.
